I am in Zagreb, Croatia. Our Premiere (Opening Night) of "Love for Three Oranges" was Feb. 17th and it was an amazing success for Croatian National Theater in Zagreb! All six performances are SOLD OUT! Tomorrow (March 1st) will be our 5th performance, with our final performance on March 4th.

Pjevač koji je briljirao u "Gurrelieder" sada je glavna uzdanica produkcije opere "Zaljubljen u tri naranče" Sergeja Prokofjeva u zagrebačkom HNK

A singer who was brilliant in "Gurrelieder" is now the main pillar of an opera production, "Love for Three Oranges", composed by Sergei Prokofiev, performing at Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb

A zaplet je jednostavan: Stari kralj Tref (Berislav Puškarić) očajan je jer mu jedini sin, Princ (Michael Robert Hendrick), pati od hipohondrije i melankolije i samo što ne svisne. U slučaju njegove smrti, tron bi naslijedila kraljeva zla nećakinja Clarice (Sofia Ameli Gojić), čiji pak dvolični ljubavnik Leandro, prvi ministar Dvora (Davor Radić) potajice jadnoga princa izlaže mučaljivoj poeziji koju mu miješa u čaj i kakao, nadajući se da će ga prije ili kasnije dotući “književna melankolija”.

Opera zagrebačkoga Hrvatskoga narodnog kazališta 17. veljače premijerno će izvesti operu-farsu Zaljubljen u tri naranče, velikoga ruskog skladatelja Sergeja Sergejeviča Prokofjeva, pod ravnanjem maestra Nikša Bareze i u režiji Krešimira Dolenčića.

Slavni ruski skladatelj Sergej Prokofjev (1891-1953) rođen je u manjem ukrajinskom mjestu Sončivka, tada sastavnom dijelu velikog Ruskog carstva, u imućnoj obitelji koja mu je omogućila dobru naobrazbu.

Opera Zaljubljen u tri naranče odabrana je kao polazište za pilot-projekt pod nazivom Opera u školama.

This opera, due to performance in the Croatian language, a difficult task for Hendrick. The famous American tenor debuted in the New York Metropolitan Opera Manelaja role in Strauss' The Egyptian Helen ". During 27 years of impressive career has been a series of major roles in many of the world's opera houses. In 2001 proclaimed Artist of the Year of the Washington National Opera in the role of Lenny Small in Floydovoj opera "Of Mice and Men". Rado appearances in Slavic opera. It was his experience singing in Czech and Russian help in overcoming the Croatian text. "The invitation from Zagreb for me is primarily a great honor. On the other hand, it is a great responsibility. If the audience has already removed the money and the time to come see this opera, then I have to give my best to overcome this text, understand, I understand, so I brought the character completely. Moreover, lately I have not had a chance to play roles such as Prince. Melancholy, helpless and comedy, "says Hendrick.

Opera zagrebačkoga Hrvatskoga narodnog kazališta priprema operu-farsu Zaljubljen u tri naranče, ruskoga skladatelja Sergeja Sergejeviča Prokofjeva (1891. – 1953.). Dirigent je maestro Nikša Bareze, a redatelj Krešimir Dolenčić. Scenografiju i kostimografiju osmislio je mladi engleski umjetnik Simon Bejer. Prokofjev je operu skladao po narudžbi chicaškoga opernoga društva i praizvedena je u prosincu 1921. godine u tamošnjem kazalištu Auditorium. Na daske zagrebačkoga HNK postavlja se ponovno nakon 46 godina. Na hrvatskom jeziku izvodit će je veliki operni ansambl uz pratnju Orkestra i Zbora HNK u Zagrebu.
